6 Monthly Machine Inspection
1. Tailstock:
- Greasing the linear guide block.
- Checking and greasing the ball screw guide bushing (only for 1000U) 2. Secondary headstock and W-axis:
- Checking and measuring timing belt tension.
- Checking and cleaning the timing belt pulley grooves.
3. Turret and X-axis:
- Checking the milling spindle belt and belt tension.
4. Hydraulic unit:
- Cleaning the strainers.
6 Monthly Hydraulic Unit Maintenance
- Inspection when starting hydraulic unit
1. Pump rotation direction
With the motor started, the pump starts rotation. Check to be sure that the pump rotation direction is as indicated on the legend plates of the motor and pump. The pump rotation direction can be checked at the motor fan side opposite to the motor shaft side.
Once the motor is stopped, never try to start it again immediately. At least one minute motor rest is required in this case. If started again immediately, the motor is overloaded by the residual pressure in the hydraulic circuit.
2. Pressure
Check that the pressure is set to 5 MPa (712 PSI) by the pressure gauge.
- Inspection and maintenance of hydraulic unit
!CAUITON: When replenishing the hydraulic unit with oil, use only the recommended oil. If hydraulic oil other than the recommended oil is used, it will cause malfunction of the machine.
1. Replenishment
Chuck Maintenance
Adjustment of the clamp/unclamp proximity switches of the chuck
Chuck clamp or unclamp signal is lit
Set the chucking cylinder in the unclamped status
Proximity switch head portion comes into contact with the circumference of the detection plate
Clearance between the proximity switch and the detection plate
Set the chucking cylinder in the clamped status
Clamp or unclamp proximity switch lamp is lit
Replacement of the chuck
Power is turned off
1 Monthly Machine Inspection
1. Headstock:
- Removing any chips from the coolant collector.
2. Secondary headstock and W-axis:
- Cleaning the cooling fan filter.
3. Headstock cooling unit:
- Cleaning the radiator.
4. Coolant unit:
- Checking the degree of dirtiness of the coolant and if necessary, replacing.;
Front door glass Replacement
Before operating the machine, be absolutely certain to check that the front door glass surface is free from damage such as flaws. If even a slight flaw is found, stop the machine and replace the glass.
(When ordering a replacement glass from Mazak Technical Center or Technology Center, refer to the table above and specify the part number.)
The window in the operator door is critical to the safety of the operator and is designed to withstand impact from ejected chuck jaws or workpieces.
Polycarbonate, the material most commonly used in vision panels, is subject to embrittlement if exposed to cutting fluids. The window used on this machine uses a fully sealed polycarbonate construction, comprising polycarbonate panel protected by laminated layers of glass and plastic.
The window conforms to the requirements of EN12415.
1). Window replacement
If the operator safety window shows any signs of damage, and cutting fluids can reach the surface of the polycarbonate, then the window unit should be replaced as its safety properties could be significantly reduced.
The window unit must be replaced with a fully sealed polycarbonate window unit obtained from MAZAK (refer to table above or Mechanical Parts List).
!CAUTION: The Power supply and the air supply should be isolated from the machine before carrying out the following assembly procedure.
