Is the fan stored in a humid, dusty, or corrosive atmosphere?

Rotate the fan and purge the bearings if stored in a humid, dusty, or corrosive atmosphere.

Inspect the fan for moisture or dirt accumulations.

Record inspection and maintenance performed.

Was moisture or dirt accumulation found on parts?

Describe the source of moisture or dirt and actions taken to eliminate it.

Ensure the fan is turned off and locked out before starting lubrication.

Verify the type of grease to be used according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Is the bearing visible to observe purged grease?

Enter the number of grease shots required for the specific bore size.

Add lubricant with the shaft rotating until clean grease is seen purging from the bearing.

Describe the condition of the purged grease if not clean.

Disconnect the electrical supply

Remove any dirt accumulation on the wheel or in the housing

Check springs and rubber isolators

Confirm that building supply voltage matches the voltage for which the unit is wired.

Disconnect and lock-out all power switches to fan.

Check all piping and wiring penetrations for water tightness.

Check all fasteners, set screws and locking collars for tightness.

Rotate the fan wheel by hand to ensure no parts are rubbing.

Check for bearing alignment and lubrication.

Check the V-belt drive for proper alignment and tension.

Check all guarding for secure attachment and non-interference with rotating parts.

Check for wear, tension, alignment, and dirt accumulation on V-belt drives

Are the sheaves free from grooves and wear?

Are all belts being replaced to ensure uniform drive loading?

Loosen belt tension until belts can be removed by lifting them off the sheaves

Ensure slack in each belt is on the same side of the drive after replacement

Adjust belt deflection to 1/64-inch per each inch of belt span halfway between sheave centers
