Connect a manometer to the outlet tap at the gas valve before adjusting the pressure regulator.
Pressure Regulator Adjustment
Measure the current manifold pressure.
Is the manifold pressure within the acceptable range (3.5 inches water column for natural gas or 10 inches water column for propane gas)?
Adjust the pressure regulator direction
Re-measure the manifold pressure after adjustment.
Is the final manifold pressure within plus or minus 3 inches water column of the target value?

Inspect the flue pipe system for blockage and/or leakage
Inspect the combustion air intake pipe system for blockage and/or leakage
Burner Visual Check
Safety Warning
HIGH VOLTAGE: Electrical components are contained in both compartments. To avoid electrical shock, injury or death, do not remove any internal compartment covers or attempt any adjustment. Contact a qualified service agent at once if an abnormal flame appearance should develop.
Visual Check of Burner Flames
Turn the furnace on at the thermostat and wait a few minutes for any dislodged dust to settle.
Check that the burner flames are stable, quiet, soft, and blue with slightly orange tips.
Ensure the flames are not yellow.
Verify that the flames extend directly outward from the burner ports without curling downward, floating, or lifting off the ports.
