Ensure the air cleaner is installed in the correct position

Is the air cleaner readily accessible for inspection?

Electronic Air Cleaner Inspection

Inspect and clean the following components

Inspect and replace the Media Air Cleaner filter cartridge if necessary

Check availability of Carbon Filters

Ensure all other gas appliances are turned off

Wait for at least fifteen minutes after the heating cycle has started

Record the time (in seconds) for one complete revolution of the cubic foot dial on the gas meter

Enter the number of cubic feet of gas consumed per hour

Enter the calorific value of the gas (BTU per cubic foot)

Calculate the BTU input by multiplying the cubic feet of gas consumed per hour by the calorific value

Connect a manometer to the outlet tap at the gas valve before adjusting the pressure regulator.

Record the initial manifold pressure in inches of water column.

Is the manifold pressure within the acceptable range for natural gas (3.5 inches water column ± 3 inches) or propane gas (10 inches water column ± 3 inches)?

Select the type of gas being used.

Adjust the pressure regulator on the gas valve by turning clockwise to increase pressure and counterclockwise to decrease pressure.

Record the adjusted manifold pressure in inches of water column.

Propane Gas Specific Instructions

Turn on the furnace at the thermostat

Wait a few minutes for dislodged dust to settle

Check the burner flames for the following characteristics

Are the flames stable, quiet, soft and blue with slightly orange tips?

Are the flames extending directly outward from the burner ports without curling downward, floating or lifting off the ports?

Disconnect all power before servicing or installing the unit

Check the following furnace components for proper working order

Ensure ignitor is handled with care, avoiding contact with bare fingers and rough handling

Were all necessary repairs or services completed?
