3 Monthly Safety Envelope And Circuits Maintenance

Check mark

Testing the machine safety envelope is critical to safe machine operation.

Check mark

Start the engine from the ground controls

Check mark

Raise the boom to approximately 60°

Check mark

Extend the boom to more than 80 feet / 24.4 m

Check mark

Push in the red Emergency Stop button to the off position

Check mark

Plug in the LSB2RS test jumper between the lower limit switch and the function manifold

Check mark

Pull out the red Emergency Stop button to the on position and start the engine

Check mark

Disconnect the 68° proximity switch LSB14A0 and install a wire jumper between pin 3 and pin 4 of the Deutsch connector

Check mark

Activate the function enable/high RPM button and extend the boom to 101 feet / 30.8 m

Run this procedureArrow right

1 Yearly Boom Extend/Retract Cables Inspection

Check mark

- Inspect the Boom Extend/Retract Cables

Check mark

Manufacturers specifications require that this procedure be performed by personnel that are competent in cable / wire rope inspection

Check mark

Note: Additional or more frequent inspections may be required due to the following:

Check mark

• exposed to hostile or corrosive environmental conditions

Check mark

• boom is overloaded

Check mark

• sustains a shock load

Check mark

• electrical arcing

Check mark

• unused for extended periods

Check mark

The boom extend/retract cables are responsible for the extension and retraction of the boom tubes

Run this procedureArrow right

1 Yearly Turntable Rotation Bearing Bolts Check

Check mark

- Check the Turntable Rotation Bearing Bolts

Check mark

Maintaining proper torque on the turntable bearing bolts is essential to safe machine operation

Check mark

Improper bolt torque could result in an unsafe operating condition and component damage

Check mark

Note: Access to the upper and lower turntable bearing bolts will vary depending on model

Check mark

1. S Booms, Z-45 XC and Z-45/25 (J) IC, DC, Bi-Energy: Raise the (primary) boom and place a safety chock on the lift cylinder rod

Check mark

Carefully lower the boom onto the lift cylinder safety chock OR support the boom assembly with a suitable lifting device

Check mark

All other Z Booms: Raise the secondary boom and place a safety chock on the lift cylinder rods. Carefully lower the boom onto the lift cylinder safety chock OR support the boom assembly with a suitable lifting device

Check mark

WARNING!

Check mark

Crushing hazard. Keep hands away from the cylinder and all moving parts when lowering the boom

Run this procedureArrow right

3 Monthly Drive Speed Test

Check mark

- Test the Drive Speed - Stowed Position

Check mark

Note: Perform this procedure with the machine on a firm, level surface that is free of obstructions

Check mark

Note: Perform this procedure with the machine in the stowed position

Check mark

1. Create start and finish lines by marking two lines on the ground 40 feet / 12.2 m apart

Check mark

2. Choose a point on the machine (i.e., contact patch of a tire) as a visual reference for use when crossing the start and finish lines

Check mark

3. Bring the machine to top drive speed before reaching the start line. Begin timing when your reference point on the machine crosses the start line

Check mark

4. Continue at full speed and note the time when the machine reference point crosses the finish line. Refer to Specifications, Drive Speed Specifications

Check mark

- Test the Drive Speed - Raised or Extended Position

Check mark

1. Create start and finish lines by marking two lines on the ground 40 feet / 12.2 m apart

Run this procedureArrow right

1 Yearly Extendable Axle Inspection

Check mark

- Check the Extendable Axle - S-100, S-100HD, S-105, S-120, S-120HD and S-125

Check mark

Maintaining the axle wear pads in good condition is essential to safe machine operation. Wear pads are placed on axle tube surfaces to provide a low friction, replaceable wear pad between moving parts. Improperly shimmed wear pads or continued use of worn out wear pads may result in component damage and unsafe operating conditions

Check mark

1. Start the engine from the platform controls and extend the axles

Check mark

2. Measure each axle wear pad

Check mark

3. Replace any wear pad if it is less than specification. If a wear pad is not less than specification, shim as necessary to obtain minimum clearance and no drag

Check mark

4. Extend and retract the axles through the entire range of motion to check for tight spots that may cause binding or scraping of the axle tubes

Check mark

Note: Always maintain squareness between the outer and inner axle tubes

Check mark

Extendable axle wear pad Wear pad specifications : Minimum 0.4375 inch / 11.11 mm;
