3 Monthly Drive Speed Test
- Test the Drive Speed - Stowed Position
Note: Perform this procedure with the machine on a firm, level surface that is free of obstructions
Note: Perform this procedure with the machine in the stowed position
1. Create start and finish lines by marking two lines on the ground 40 feet / 12.2 m apart
2. Choose a point on the machine (i.e., contact patch of a tire) as a visual reference for use when crossing the start and finish lines
3. Bring the machine to top drive speed before reaching the start line. Begin timing when your reference point on the machine crosses the start line
4. Continue at full speed and note the time when the machine reference point crosses the finish line. Refer to Specifications, Drive Speed Specifications
- Test the Drive Speed - Raised or Extended Position
1. Create start and finish lines by marking two lines on the ground 40 feet / 12.2 m apart
1 Yearly Turntable Bearing Inspection
Warning: Perform this procedure with the machine on a firm, level surface with the boom in the stowed position
Grease the turntable bearing
Torque the turntable bearing bolts to specification
Raise the boom to full height using the ground controls
Place a dial indicator between the drive chassis and the turntable
Adjust the dial indicator needle to the 'zero' position
Lower the boom to a horizontal position and fully extend the boom
Note the reading on the dial indicator
Move the booms to the positions indicated in step 3
3 Monthly Hydraulic Filters Inspection
- Inspect the Hydraulic Filters
Note: There are four types of hydraulic filters: tank return filter, medium pressure filter, high pressure filter and drive motor case drain filter. The quantity and type of filter(s) may vary by model
Models with Filter Condition Indicator:
1. Start the engine from the ground controls
2. Set the engine idle to high rpm (rabbit symbol)
3. Visually inspect the filter condition indicator
• Result: The filter condition indicator is operating in the green area
• Result: The filter condition indicator is operating in the red area. This indicates that the hydraulic filter is being bypassed and the filter should be replaced. Refer to Maintenance Procedure, Replace the Hydraulic Filters
Models without Filter Condition Indicator:
2000 Hourly Extendable Axle Wear Pads Check
Warning: Ensure the axles are fully extended before attempting this procedure
Measure each wear pad
Is the wear pad measurement less than 0.437 inch/1.12 mm?
If a wear pad is not less than specification, shim as necessary to obtain minimum clearance and no drag
If any wear pads are replaced, refer to Repair Procedure in the appropriate Service and Repair Manual for your machine, Grease the Extendable Axles
Check for tight spots that may cause binding or scraping of the axle tubes
Sign off on the axle wear pads check
1000 Hourly Drive Hub Oil Replacement
- Replace the Drive Hub Oil
Drive hub specifications require that this procedure be performed after the first 50 hours of operation
After the initial oil replacement, specifications require that this procedure be performed every 1000 hours
Replacing the drive hub oil is essential for good machine performance and service life. Failure to replace the drive hub oil may cause the machine to perform poorly and continued use may cause component damage
Drive Hubs:
1. Select the drive hub to be serviced. Drive the machine until one of the two plugs is at the lowest point
2. Remove the plugs and drain the oil into a suitable container
3. Drive the machine until one of the two plugs is at the highest point
4. Drive hubs with 2 plugs: Fill the hub until the oil level is even with the bottom of the lowest plug hole. Refer to Specifications, Hydraulic Specifications
