Oil Level Check and Initial Actions

Is the oil level above the fill mark?

Is the oil level even with the fill mark and no contaminants suspected?

Run the pump for 15 minutes to warm up the oil

Turn off motor for the vacuum pump

Drain the oil into a clear plastic container

Are there contaminants settling at the bottom of the container?

Remove screws securing the old seal

Pry the old seal loose with a screwdriver or similar wedge

Discard the old seal and its gasket

Inspect all surfaces for damage

Ensure refrigerant is maintained at a high level in the flask

Check that the refrigerant add tube is not obstructed

Monitor pressure in the vacuum system for increase

Determine if the trap is saturated based on pressure increase

Disconnect the trap from the system

Has the oil changed in color or level?

Change the oil if changes are observed

Is it time for the scheduled oil change?

Perform scheduled oil change if due
