Disconnect, tag and lockout power supply to the starter

Is the unit elevated high enough to use the oil reservoir drain line?

Is the drained oil and/or the oil filter element contaminated with dirt?

Is the compressor at operating temperature?

Record the gas and oil discharge temperature

Is the discharge temperature within the normal range for ambient temperatures below 80°F?

Is the discharge temperature varying degree for degree with the ambient temperature above 80°F?

Record the oil cooler oil pressure differential

Ensure the unit is completely off and that no pressure is in the oil reservoir.

Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter.

Measure the pressure differential across the oil separator.

Is the pressure differential approximately 8 PSI or higher?

Shine a light inside the element to check for heavy dirt or varnish deposits.

Monitor intake scrubber condition

Change intake scrubber element if service or replacement is required

Change oil according to OEM Packager’s instructions

Is the ambient temperature above 40° F?

Ensure provisions are made to prevent temperature from dropping below 40° F

Record reservoir or compressor discharge temperature

Shut down compressor and relieve system of all pressure

Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter

Ensure no gas pressure is in the oil reservoir

Refer to OEM Packager’s instructions

Verify the use of correct replacement element

Ensure not to disturb the piping during replacement
