Ensure the compressor is shut down and system pressure is relieved

Verify that the compressor, gas/oil reservoir, separation chamber, and all piping and tubing are at a safe temperature

Ensure the unit is completely off and no gas pressure is in the oil reservoir

Disconnect, tag and lockout the power supply to the starter

Wipe away all dirt around the oil filler plug

Ensure the relief valve is installed in the final discharge line

Record the unit's full load operating pressure

Calculate 75% of the relief valve set pressure

Raise the system operating pressure to 75% of the relief valve set pressure

Manually open the valve with the hand lever

Hold the valve open for a few seconds

Did the valve snap shut properly?

Note if oil consumption is high and refer to OEM Packager's Instructions

Discharge Pressure and Temperature Check

Observe all shutdown and lockout procedures

Refer to OEM Packager’s instructions for lubricant upgrade

Drain oil from compressor and cooler while hot

Break low points connections and drain oil from pipe runs

Dump oil from filter and reinstall used filter

Fill the system with a 50 percent charge of the new lubricant

Ensure the unit is completely off and that no pressure is in the oil reservoir.

Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter.

Measure the pressure differential across the oil separator.

Is the pressure differential approximately 8 PSI or higher?

Shine a light inside the element to check for heavy dirt, varnish deposits, or ruptures.
