Pre-Inspection
Ensure the relief valve is installed in the final discharge line
Record the unit's full load operating pressure
Relief Valve Test
Calculate 75% of the relief valve set pressure
Raise the system operating pressure to 75% of the relief valve set pressure
Manually open the relief valve with the hand lever
Hold the valve open for a few seconds
Did the valve snap shut properly?

Preparation and Safety
Observe all shutdown and lockout procedures

Break low points connections and drain oil from pipe runs
Dump oil from filter and reinstall used filter

Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter

Is the drained oil and/or the oil filter element contaminated with dirt?
