Compressor Pre-Startup Check
Compressor Oil Check
Check oil level in the reservoir
Is the oil level within the operating range during full load and normal pressure?
Add oil if necessary to reach the top of the operating range
Ensure the unit is stopped and pressure is released before removing the oil filler plug
Inspect the intake scrubber for cleanliness and ensure the inlet line is tight and clean
Check all bolts and cap screws on the coupling for tightness
Verify piping meets all installation recommendations
Check wiring diagrams to ensure proper wiring of the unit

Preparation and Safety
Observe all shutdown and lockout procedures
Refer to OEM Packager’s instructions for lubricant upgrade
Draining the System
Drain oil from compressor and cooler while hot
Break low points connections and drain oil from pipe runs
Dump oil from filter and reinstall used filter
Filling with New Lubricant
Fill the system with a 50 percent charge of the new lubricant

Intake Scrubber Maintenance
Monitor intake scrubber condition
Change intake scrubber element if filter requires service or replacement
Oil Change
Change oil according to OEM Packager’s instructions
Temperature Management
Ensure provisions are made to prevent reservoir or compressor discharge temperature from dropping below 40° F
Record current reservoir or compressor discharge temperature
Is the temperature above 40° F?

Safety Precautions
Shut down compressor and relieve system of all pressure
Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter
System Draining
Select the draining method
Is the oil hot before draining?
System Inspection and Cleaning
Is the drained oil and/or the oil filter element contaminated with dirt?
Flush the entire system if contaminated
Oil Separator Element Maintenance
Preparation
Ensure the unit is completely off and that no pressure is in the oil reservoir.
Disconnect, tag, and lockout power supply to the starter.
Refer to OEM Packager’s instructions.
Pressure Differential Gauging
Measure the pressure differential across the oil separator.
Is the pressure differential approximately 8 PSI or higher?
Replace the oil separator element if the pressure differential is 8 PSI or higher.
