Were there any changes in oil level or color?

Is the oil unchanged for three to four months?

Check the refrigerant level in the flask

Is the refrigerant add tube unobstructed?

Has the pressure in the vacuum system increased?

Disconnect the trap from the system

Rinse off the condensate with a suitable solvent in a fume hood

Remove screws securing the old seal

Pry the old seal loose with a screwdriver or similar wedge

Discard the old seal and its gasket

Inspect all surfaces for damage

Inspect the pump fluid for color change and odor

Is the fluid slightly darkened and has no odor?

Change the pump fluid if slightly darkened and has no odor

Has the fluid developed a noticeable odor?

Clean the pump if the fluid has a noticeable odor

Check the oil level in the pump

Turn off the motor for the vacuum pump

Drain the oil into a clear plastic container

Are there contaminants in the oil?

Ensure the belt guard is installed

Attach a short hose to the drain valve leading to a clear plastic container
