Regreasable Bearings - Lubrication Intervals

Is the grease lubrication option specified?

Measure the bearing housing operating temperature

Is the operating temperature between 80-94°C (175-200°F)?

Is the external housing temperature below 94°C (200°F)?

Stop the pump and lock the motor

Is synthetic oil lubricant being used?

Is the interval 18 months regardless of operating temperature?

Can the interval be increased to 36 months with ANSI 3A power end?

Record the external housing temperature

Is the external housing temperature below 82°C (180°F)?

Is the bearing temperature below 105°C (220°F)?

Confirm satisfactory operation by checking

Record the surface temperature at the bearings

Is the surface temperature within the acceptable range?

Ensure overload prevention measures are in place

Perform routine vibration monitoring

Check and remove dirt from areas around close clearances, bearing housings, and motors

Is the grease lubrication option specified and bearing housing operating temperature under 71°C (160°F)?

Enter the current external housing temperature in °C

Is the external housing temperature below 94°C (200°F)?

Is the bearing temperature below 105°C (220°F)?

Select the grease type used for relubrication

Have the bearings been relubricated three times since the last cleaning?

Clean out the bearing housing if relubricated three times

Ensure no oil is filled in the housing when greased bearings are used

Record the bearing housing operating temperature

Is the operating temperature between 80-94°C (175-200°F)?

Is the external housing temperature below 82°C (180°F)?

Oil Specifications and Precautions

Ensure oil meets the following specifications

Is the oil a quality mineral oil with rust and oxidation inhibitors (e.g., Mobil DTE heavy/medium or equivalent)?

Clean the area around the vent plug [6521] at the top of the bearing housing
