Measure the current process temperature

Select the appropriate impeller clearance based on temperature

Install a new impeller gasket [4590] if the impeller has been removed

Rotate the bearing carrier [3240] to obtain the proper clearance

Turn the bearing carrier clockwise until the impeller comes into light rubbing contact with the suction cover

Rotate the shaft to determine the zero setting accurately

Ensure all parts are thoroughly cleaned and inspected

Use new bearings, O-rings, gaskets, and lip seals

List any parts showing wear or corrosion that need replacement

Check measurements and tolerances as per figure 6-16

Measure shaft runout (should be 0.025 mm or less)

Is radial deflection within acceptable limits (0.05 mm or less)?

Measure axial shaft movement (endplay) on Durco pump (should be 0.03 mm or less)

Measure seal chamber face squareness run-out (should be less than 0.08 mm)

Record the bearing housing operating temperature

Is the operating temperature between 80-94°C (175-200°F)?

Is the external housing temperature below 82°C (180°F)?

Oil Specifications and Precautions

Ensure the oil meets the following specifications

Is the oil a quality mineral oil with rust and oxidation inhibitors (e.g., Mobil DTE heavy/medium or equivalent)?

Clean the area around the vent plug [6521] at the top of the bearing housing

Pre-Lubrication Safety Measures

Stop the pump and lock the motor

Is the bearing housing operating temperature under 71°C (160°F)?

Is the external housing temperature below 94°C (200°F)?

Remove the pipe plug from both bearing locations

Enter the amount of grease for Group 2 inboard bearing (cm³)

Enter the amount of grease for Group 2 outboard bearing (cm³)

Record external housing temperature

Clean the vent plug [6521] at the top of the bearing housing
