Note: Operating the machine in conditions that are muddy or sandy will cause accelerated wear on the sprocket and other undercarriage components. It is important to clean the undercarriage of the machine daily in order to maximize component life.

Sleeves meet the minimum thickness?

If the sleeves do not rotate freely, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Sprocket - Inspect” for information about the inspection of the sprocket assembly.

Sign off on the sprocket sleeve inspection

Refer to the Service Manual for the complete adjustment procedure for the engine valve lash.

A qualified mechanic should adjust the engine valve lash and the fuel injector timing because special tools and training are required.

Is the date of installation label present?

If the date of installation label is missing, replace belt within 3 years from the year of manufacture

Year of manufacture as indicated on belt webbing label, buckle housing, or installation tags

Consult your Cat dealer for the replacement of the seat belt and the mounting hardware

Does the age of new seat belt exceed install by date on label?

Complete seat belt system should be installed with new mounting hardware

Cooling System Water Temperature Regulator - Replace

Warning: Failure to replace the engine's thermostat on a regularly scheduled basis could cause severe engine damage.

Open the engine access door. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Access Doors and Covers”.

Drain the coolant from the machine. See Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change” for the procedure to drain the cooling system.

Loosen the hose clamp (1) and remove the hose from the thermostat housing assembly (2).

Remove the two bolts (3) from the thermostat housing assembly. Remove the thermostat housing assembly.

Remove the seal and the thermostat from the thermostat housing assembly.

Install a new thermostat and a new seal. Install the thermostat housing assembly on the engine cylinder head.

Install the hose. Tighten the hose clamp.

Fuel System Filter (In-Line) - Replace

Is the filter screen more than half obstructed?

Is the engine performance poor?

Open the engine access door. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Access Doors and Covers”.

Did you remove the fuel filter and discard it?

Did you replace the fuel filter ensuring that the arrow on the filter points upward?
