Replace or repair parts as required

6.3.1 Shaft and sleeve inspection

Thoroughly clean the shaft and sleeve

Store in a covered and dry location

Ensure the unit is free from heat, dirt, and vibrations

Rotate the shaft by hand several times

Treat bearing and machined surfaces for preservation

Refer to the drive unit manufacturer for long-term storage procedures

6.1 Bearing maintenance — Bearing lubrication schedule

Verify motor bearings require no initial lubrication

Document motor manufacturer's lubrication interval recommendations

Confirm motor was lubricated at the factory

Replace pump seal if leaks are found

Monitor the pump while it is operating

Check the pump for bearing temperature, excessive vibration, and noise

Shut down the pump immediately if it exceeds normal levels

Ensure the pump is not running dry to prevent seal damage

5.6 Note on the packed pump operation

Monitor continuously during operation

Ensure the pump is a packed pump variant (-PF)

Ensure the pump is an e-1531/e-1532-PF packed stuffing box variant

Check for adequate leakage rate for cooling and lubrication

Recommended leakage rate for fluid temperatures 32°F to 190°F (0°C to 88°C) is 60 to 80 drops per minute

Ensure no steam is forming at the gland

Limit temperature rise to a maximum of about 20°F (-7°C)

Provide cooling water if steam persists at higher leakage rates
