Baso Safety Valve Replacement
Safety Precautions
Disconnect the electrical power to the machine and follow lockout / tagout procedures
Shut off the gas before servicing the unit and follow lockout / tagout procedures
Check all gas joints disturbed during servicing for leaks using a soap and water solution
Remove FRONT PANEL
Measure distance between manifold pipe and valve for reassembly later
Ensure ignition wires are routed in front of valves to prevent them from touching hot heat shield
Disconnect all gas lines and thermocouple from valve
Remove valve from unit
Thermostat Valve Assembly Replacement
Safety Precautions
Disconnect the electrical power to the machine and follow lockout / tagout procedures
Shut off the gas before servicing the unit and follow lockout / tagout procedures
Check all gas joints disturbed during servicing for leaks using a soap and water solution
Remove FRONT PANEL
Disconnect gas line
Remove screws securing thermostat mounting bracket to frame
Pull capillary tube out from underneath griddle plate
Transfer fittings from old thermostat to new thermostat
Thermostat Calibration
Observe temperatures at center points of cooking zones using a Surface Probe
Set thermostats to 350°F and allow to stabilize
Record the temperature tester readouts for each zone for 3 cycles
Calculate total average temperature for that zone
Is the temperature within 350°F ±15°F?
Loosen the knob set screw without turning the knob
Remove the knob from the thermostat shaft to expose the temperature dial
Loosen screws on the temperature dial and adjust it to match the griddle plate temperature reading
Tighten the temperature dial screws and knob set screws once calibration is achieved
Thermocouple Testing
Unscrew thermocouple fitting from safety valve
Install thermocouple test adapter finger tight plus a quarter turn
Install thermocouple into test adapter finger tight plus a quarter turn
Set VOM to DC millivolt scale and connect (+) meter lead to pin on thermocouple adapter and (-) meter lead to thermocouple
Light pilot flame
Verify that thermocouple is sufficiently immersed in flame. Adjust pilot valve to allow more gas flow if necessary
Allow pilot to burn for 3-4 minutes to stabilize voltage output from thermocouple with thermostat off
Verify thermocouple output voltage
Enter the measured thermocouple output voltage
Burner Adjustment
Preparation
Ensure the burner is turned off and cool before starting the adjustment
Air Shutter Adjustment
Loosen the screw on the venturi
Adjust the air shutter to eliminate yellow tips on the burner flames
Lock the air shutter in place by tightening the screw
Verification
Check for yellow streaming flame after adjustment
Repeat the adjustment procedure if yellow tips are still present
