Dual Column Horizontal Band Saw Cleaning
The H-40 series design should endure heavy operating conditions and provide the customer with flawless machine performance. To extend good performance some care is required, especially cleanliness.
The following areas should be kept clean of dirt, grease and chips:
-CONTROL CONSOLE
-DOOR CHARTS
-WHEEL BOXES
-BLADE GUIDES
NOTE: All parts should be cleaned before any repair or service is performed on them.;
Blade Change
Raise the Head enough for the drive box to clear the control console.
Open the idler and drive box doors.
Turn the blade tension switch which is located on the idler box side of the machine, to the release position marked by the negative symbol.
Turn the carbide tensioning levers counter-clockwise on both guide arms.
Pull the blade off of the drive and idler wheels.
Push the blade down out from between the carbide guides.
Remove the blade.
Install a new blade.
Tighten the blade by reversing the blade tension switch to the 'RUN' position.
Blade Guide Adjustment
Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!
Is the locking handle in the locked position?
If not, put the locking handle in the locked position.
Did you loosen the set screw (1)?
If not, loosen the set screw (1).
Did you turn the loader bolt (2) clockwise until tight and then loosen it approximately 1/8 of a turn?
If not, turn the loader bolt (2) clockwise until tight and then loosen it approximately 1/8 of a turn.
Did you tighten the set screw (1)?
If not, tighten the set screw (1).
1 Monthly Dual Column Horizontal Band Saw Lubrication
The design of the H-40 were intended to minimize maintenance, although periodically certain moving parts need lubrication. We recommend that this periodic lubrication be done once a month using any general purpose grease. In addition to the grease points shown, vise jaw guides and infeed rollers require greasing.
Apply grease to the four places indicated on the blade tension assembly. (Shown with the cover removed.)
Apply grease to all four sides of the guide arm shaft with it fully extended.
With the vis(s) closed, apply grease to all four sides of the vise shaft.;
Hydraulic Maintenance
Warning: This maintenance check requires trained personnel with PPE!
Oil level maintained in the upper half of the level gauge
Type of hydraulic oil used
Hydraulic tank capacity in US gallons
Oil temperature in Fahrenheit
Oil temperature within acceptable range (50 - 55 F° above room temperature)
Oil pressure in psi
Oil pressure set to 1200 psi
Sign off on the hydraulic maintenance
