Measure the depth of lime buildup in the heater

Is the lime buildup 1/2 inch or less?

Is the lime buildup 2 inches or more?

Set deliming schedule based on lime buildup

Read and follow handling instructions on the deliming product label

Shut off gas supply to the heater

Remove outer cover plate from lower side of heater jacket

Remove six hex head screws securing tank cleanout plate

Remove lime, scale, or sediment without damaging glass lining

Close cold water inlet valve serving heater

Open nearby hot water faucet to relieve pressure in the heater

Check the condition of the anode rods

Is the 1/8” (3mm) diameter core wire visible?

Do you need to replace the anode rods?

Obtain two new nipple collars, part no. 74060, if necessary

Verify damper operation with water operating controls

Is there a problem with the water heater operation in AUTOMATIC OPERATION position?

Reset Service Switch to HOLD OPEN DAMPER position if there is a problem

Does the water heater operate in HOLD OPEN DAMPER position?

Refer to EFFIKAL RVGP-FSF-SERIES TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE if water heater operates in HOLD OPEN DAMPER position

Refer to Troubleshooting Sections and Operational Checklist if water heater does not operate in either position

Turn off the manual gas control valve to the appliance

Ensure the gas supply is shut off

Temperature Control Replacement

Check if the storage tank temperature control is out of calibration

Replace the storage tank temperature control if out of calibration

Verify the new temperature control is functioning correctly

Ensure the following components are operational
