Check for signs of malfunctioning shaft seals

Diagnosis — inner shaft seal fault

Is the oil level dropping with no oil under the shaft seal housing?

Switch off the pump immediately if inner shaft seal is faulty

Repair the pump if inner shaft seal is faulty

Diagnosis — outer shaft seal fault

Is the oil level dropping with oil appearing under the shaft seal housing?

Top up the lost oil regularly if outer shaft seal is slightly malfunctioning

5.6 Cleaning the Pumping Chamber

Ensure all safety precautions from Section 5.1 are observed

Remove the two connecting lines

Choose method to remove contaminants

Were the impellers turned only by hand during cleaning?

Ensure no loosened deposits remain in the pump

Check the pump by slowly turning the impellers by hand to ensure they move freely without resistance

5.7 Cleaning the Valve of the Pressure Balance Line

Observe all safety information provided in Section 5.1

Remove the screws and take off the cover (12/1) with O-ring (12/2)

Remove the valve disk (12/6) with O-rings (12/5) and (12/7)

Check if the bushing (12/3) is damaged and replace if necessary

Clean all parts or replace them if necessary

Reassemble in the reverse sequence

Check the O-rings for leak-tightness and replace if found faulty

5.4 Cleaning the Fan Cowl and the Cooling Fins

Observe all safety information provided in Section 5.1

Check for contamination in the fan cowl slits and motor/pump fins

Clean the grid of the fan cowl with a clean brush

Remove any coarse dirt from the motor and pump fins

Ensure all safety precautions are observed

Use the oil-drain facility for safety and simplicity

Unscrew the oil-drain screws (11/2) or (11/1) and the oil-fill screw (11/4) to drain the oil

Clean the sealing surface and reinstall the oil-drain screw using a perfect condition gasket

Wipe off any oil residues from the casing

Consult Sections 1.3 and 1.4 for oil quantities and ordering data

Ensure correct oil type is used
