Memory Board Testing
Attach a printer to the Controller or ensure the Controller is attached to a Host PC
Power up the controller by connecting AC then standby battery
Verify system self-test printout
Check if the system self-test information is printed out at a local printer
Identify the type of MEB and verify the printed information
If networked, view maximum user information using Host PC software
If correct information doesn’t appear on printouts, power down the Controller and recheck EBIC-5 connections

Mx Controller Memory Battery Replacement
Preparation
Contact Identiv (or your dealer) and order part number MPB1.
After the new memory battery arrives, take it and a small wire cutter to the Mx controller.
Battery Replacement
Open the Mx controller’s enclosure, and locate the existing memory battery.
Ensure the controller’s power remains on during the replacement.
Carefully unplug the memory battery connector from the controller’s main board at location BAT1.
Use a small wire cutter to cut through the existing cable tie and remove it.
Replace the old memory battery with the new one, and plug in its connector at location BAT1.
ScramblePad Testing
Request Status Check
Press START * # to request a status check from the ScramblePad.
Request Specific Relay and Line Module Input Status
Enter the door relay/line module input number (1 - 8) to request specific status.
Press START * [door relay/line module input] # to request status.
Read Status Reports
Read the status from the ScramblePad LEDs as per Table 7-13.
Troubleshooting
Refer to “Troubleshooting the Controller Using Status LEDs” on page 7-379 for troubleshooting guidance.
CCM Replacement
Preparation
Ground yourself by touching the controller enclosure or power supply to remove any potential static electricity.
Turn off all controller system power by removing connectors for both AC power and the standby battery.
Disconnect power sources
Old CCM Removal
Locate the CCM.
Remove the screws anchoring the CCM circuit board.
Remove the old CCM by grabbing the circuit board by the edges and pulling it up and away from the controller board.
RAM Memory Chip Handling
AEB8 Testing
Attach a printer to the Controller or ensure the Controller is attached to a Host PC
Power the system up by connecting the AC power and then the standby battery
Verify the system goes through its self-test and prints the Configuration section
Check Expansion Inputs printed on the local printer
Verify the controller version and recognized expansion inputs
Check the Options section for the line AEB8-N
Request Max Users and Options information using Command 88*2 from the ScramblePad or Host PC software
If the correct information doesn’t appear on the printouts, power down the Controller and recheck the EBIC connections, then retry the test procedure
