Use a tire inflator with a clip-on chuck

Ensure tire inflator has a pressure gauge and a hose of at least 3 m (10 ft) in length

Do not stand in-line with the axis of the wheel during deflation or pressure adjustment

Check the tire pressure using a tire pressure gauge at ambient temperature

Is the air pressure less than 80% of the correct air pressure?

Is the air pressure equal to or greater than the specification for cold tires?

Remove the cover using a wrench

Use the filter tool to pull the filter from the pump

Insert the filter insert into the filter element

Install the filter in the DEF pump

Install the screw cap and tighten by hand

Is the filter securely installed?

Verify maintenance records to establish if normal air filter replacement is due.

Ensure the Tier 3/Stage IIIA Air Filter sensor performs properly.

Is filter element replacement required?

Replace the filter element if required.

Clean the inside of the filter housing.

Record filter replacement details.

Safety Filter Element Replacement

CAUTION: Always apply the parking brake when the truck is parked. A parking brake that is not applied will drain the batteries.

Check the operation of the parking brake. Does it apply when the knob is pulled and release when pushed?

Verify if the parking brake can hold the truck with a capacity load on a 15% grade.

Repair the parking brake if it fails the operational or holding requirements.

Check the operation of the service brakes. Do they apply when pushing the brake pedal and/or the inching pedal?

Verify if the service brake can hold the truck with a capacity load on a 20% grade when applying 108 N•m (24.28 lbf ft) to the brake pedal.

Repair the service brake if it fails the operational or holding requirements.

Ensure transmission is cool before starting maintenance

Prevent dirt from entering the transmission during maintenance

Dispose of lubricants and fluids according to local environmental regulations

Record the current hour meter reading

Ensure engine is running at idle and park brake is applied

Locate and check the transmission oil level

Is the oil level at the 'FULL' mark?
