Traditional Calibration Procedure

Ensure all live load weight is removed from the scale

Confirm scale calibration completion

Ensure all pre-calibration procedures are completed

Configure the HI 4050 Weight Controller (units, decimal point, scale capacity, averages, etc.)

Reference Weight and Gravity Correction

Enter the Reference Weight for your application

Enter the Gravity Correction Factor (optional)

C2 Calibration from the Web Page

Click Configuration to display the Configuration menu

Click Calibration to open the Calibration page

Load Cell Installation Verification

Ensure no binding on the load cell or other system parts

Verify free vertical movement of the load cell

Confirm 100% of the load passes vertically through the load cell

Ensure nothing is binding the load cell or other parts of the weighing system

Is the front panel display lit?

Does the display show a value indicating readiness for calibration?

Load Cell/Point Input/Output Measurements

Measure the mVDC output at full weight capacity for a 2 mV/V load cell/point

Measure the mVDC output at 750 pounds for a 2 mV/V load cell/point

Measure the mVDC output at 500 pounds for a 2 mV/V load cell/point

Zero Reference Point Verification

Measure the zero reference point mVDC output

Place a load on the scale or vessel

Check if the weight reading changes in the proper direction

If the display reading is incorrect, refer to Chapter 8, Troubleshooting

Remove the weight if the display changes correctly and proceed to calibrate the Weight Controller
