Air Motor Surface Temperature Inspection

Operate the motor for approximately 2 hours at the maximum desired load

Check mark

Measure the surface temperature of the motor on the casting opposite the pipe ports

Check mark

Is the measured surface temperature within the normal range (not exceeding 275 degrees F/135 degrees C)?

Check mark

Is the measured surface temperature exceeding the temperature listed on the motor?

Check mark

Consult with your Gast Distributor/Representative for a recommendation if the measured temperature exceeds the listed value

Air Motor Automatic Lubrication Check

Check if the unit is fitted with an automatic inline oiler

Check mark

Adjust inline oiler to feed 1 drop of oil per minute

Check mark

Ensure not to overfeed oil to prevent exhaust air contamination

Disconnect air line and muffler

Select the type of flushing solvent used

If using liquid solvent, pour several tablespoons directly into the intake port

If using Gast #AH255B, spray solvent for 5-10 seconds into intake port

Rotate the shaft by hand in both directions for a few minutes

Check mark

Wear eye protection, cover exhaust with a cloth and reconnect the air line

Check mark

Restart the motor at a low pressure of approximately 10 psi/0.7 bar
