1 Daily Lathe Inspection
Arrange the machine periphery in order, clean the machine and its periphery (especially, the floor)
Check the chuck unit and its periphery to scan for chips
Check for secure mounting of the top jaws
Check for smooth clamping/unclamping of chuck
Check the tailstock spindle to scan for chips
Check the tailstock body and tailstock spindle for smooth forward backward movement
Check for secure mounting of the cutting tools and the holder
Check the turrets and the cutting tools to scan for chips
Check for unusual operating sounds during tail-stock or sub-spindle movement
Tapered Gibs on Tailstock Base Adjustment
• The machine is shipped after complete adjustment of tapered gibs. Readjustment will become necessary when the gibs are worn or loosened by use, resulting in noticeable irregular feed movement, which adversely affects the working accuracy.
• Adjust the gib using the adjusting screws on right side of the saddle after removing the right and left saddle wipers.
(1) Gib adjustment procedure
a) Loosen the gib adjusting screw at counterclockwise(CCW).
b) Fully tighten at clockwise(CW) and then return by a half turn the gib adjusting screw.
c) Tighten the gib adjusting screw at clockwise(CW).
• Target clearance should be 0.01 mm (0.0004 in.).
d) Adjust the gib of tailstock in the same method.;
Coolant Tank Cleaning
Warning: Ensure the pump is turned off before starting the procedure.
Cover at the side of the coolant pump removed
Coolant drawn out of the tank by the pump
Coolant tank pulled out to the right until the pump protrudes from the side cover
Coolant tank pulled out to the front
Inside of the coolant tank cleaned
Filter cleaned
Coolant tank reinstalled correctly
CAUTION! • Clean the screen filter regularly.
1 Weekly Lathe Inspection
- Greasing the chuck jaw
- Checking for sounds of reaction during sensor contact
* Every 1 Month Inspection
- Removing any chips from the coolant collector
- Checking the degree of dirtiness of the coolant and if necessary, replacing;
Centeralized Lubrication Unit Adjustment
1) Adjusting pump delivery
• The delivery amount to each lubrication point is controlled by the metering type distribution valve with automatic intermitent lubrication pump, and no further adjustment is necessary.
• A metering type distribution valves are provided at the machine rear(inside the cover) and at the right side of the tailstock. The delivery condition of lubricating oil can be checked visually. (Use sufficient care when checking the delivery condition.)
2) Maintenance and countermeasure.
When no lubricating oil is delivered :
a) Oil level is low. Replenish the lubricating oil of the same brand.
b) The pump is at a rest: The pump operates intermittently.
The pump operation interval is set at 5 minutes.
c) The oil strainer is clogged. Clean the oil strainer at least every six months. (See Fig. E-8.)
