1000 Hourly / 6 Monthly Universal Joint Inspection
Check the bearings for wear and damage, if any are worn or damaged, replace them
Check for any loose bolts, and tighten bolts if necessary
Inject a sufficient amount of grease into the grease nipples on the universal joint;
Air Intake System Precleaner Maintenance
NOTICE! Never service precleaner with the engine running
Check the precleaner bowl for dirt build-up
Is the dirt up to the line?
If the dirt is up to the line, remove the precleaner bowl and empty it
Precleaner bowl emptied
Periodically wash the cover and bowl in water
Cover and bowl washed
Sign off on the precleaner maintenance
10 Hourly / 1 Daily Brake Oil Level Check
The brake reservoir is located on the left side of the steering column
Filler cap removed
Current brake fluid level
Brake fluid level maintained to the fluid level mark on the brake system reservoir
Filler cap cleaned and installed
Fuses Maintenance
NOTE! If a fuse filament separates, use only the same type and size fuses for replacement
NOTE! If the filament in a new fuse separates, have the circuits and instruments checked
NOTICE! Always replace fuses with ones of the correct ampere rating
Check the fuses. Use a flashlight, if necessary.
Remove the front cover from the fuse box located under the cowl
Remove the cover from the fuse box located under the air filter
Sign off on the fuses maintenance
2000 Hourly / 1 Yearly Forkis Inspection
Forks should be inspected, at a minimum, every 12 months. If the truck is being used in a multi-shift or heavy duty operation, they should be checked every six months.
Inspect the forks carefully for cracks. Special attention should be given to the heel section, all weld areas and mounting brackets.
Inspect the top and bottom hooks on forks used on hook type carriages and tubes on shaft mounted forks.
Forks with cracks should be removed from service.
'Wet Test' magnetic particle inspection is generally preferred due to its sensitivity and the ease of interpreting the results.
Inspectors should be trained and qualified in accordance with The American Society for Non Destructive Testing, Level II Qualifications.
Check the angle between the upper face of the blade and the front face of the shank.
Check the straightness of the upper face of blade (D) and the front face of shank (E) with a straight edge.
Check the difference in height of one fork tip to the other when mounted on the fork carrier.
