Right Side Under Vehicle Check

Check mark

Warning: To prevent property damage, personal injury, and/or death, maintain adequate clearance between all parts of the exhaust system and all hoses, wires, and lines for engine cooling, brake system, fuel system, power steering system, and electrical system. Heat damage to hoses, wires, or lines may cause vehicle malfunction.

Check mark

1. Frame: Check for cracks or bends in the frame. Make sure there are no loose, cracked, bent, broken or missing crossmembers, or crossmember fasteners.

Check mark

2. Transmission: Inspect for leaks.

Check mark

3. Drive Shaft: Ensure that all the shaft couplings are secure.

Check mark

4. Exhaust System: Check to see that all the component parts are securely mounted and no cracks, holes, or severe dents are visible. Evidence of soot build up around the clamps or connections is a clear indicator of a leak being present. Ensure that all the hoses, wires, and air lines are secured away from exhaust components.

Check mark

Check the electrical wiring for proper security, damage, and chafing.;

Engine Air Cleaner/Filter Inspection

Check mark

Warning: Do not start the engine or have the engine running with the engine air cleaner/filter housing open.

Check mark

Caution: Water sprayed into or on the air intake box in the engine compartment may damage the air filter or electrical components. Do not spray water into or on the air intake box.

Check mark

Warning: Operating the engine with the air cleaner/filter off can cause you or others to be burned. Use caution when working on the engine. Do not start the engine or drive the vehicle with the air cleaner/filter off, as flames may be present if the engine backfires.

Check mark

Caution: If the air cleaner/filter is off, dirt can easily get into the engine, which could damage it. Always have the air cleaner/filter in place when driving.

Check mark

Air Restriction Gauge in the green zone

Check mark

If the gauge is in the red zone, replace the air cleaner/filter and then reset the gauge by twisting the black knob until the gauge is in the green zone.

Check mark

Engine air cleaner/filter housing and nearby components are free of dirt and debris

Check mark

Air cleaner/filter sealing surface and the housing base are clean

Check mark

Engine air cleaner/filter installed correctly

Rear Axle Check

Check mark

It is not necessary to regularly check rear axle fluid unless a leak is suspected or an unusual noise is heard. A fluid loss could indicate a problem. Have it inspected and repaired.

Check mark

All axle assemblies are filled by volume of fluid during production. They are not filled to reach a certain level. When checking the fluid level on any axle, variations in the readings can be caused by factory fill differences between the minimum and the maximum fluid volume.

Check mark

Also, if a vehicle has just been driven before checking the fluid level, it may appear lower than normal because fluid has traveled out along the axle tubes and has not drained back to the sump area. Therefore, a reading taken five minutes after the vehicle has been driven will appear to have a lower fluid level than a vehicle that has been stationary for an hour or two.

Check mark

The rear axle assembly must be supported on a flat, level surface to get a true reading

Check mark

To get an accurate reading, the vehicle should be on a level surface.

Check mark

The fluid level should be even with the bottom of the fill plug hole, located on the rear axle. Add only enough fluid to reach the proper level.;

Tire Rotation

Check mark

Warning: This procedure requires trained personnel with PPE!

Check mark

Tires rotated according to the Maintenance Schedule

Check mark

If unusual wear is noticed, rotate the tires as soon as possible, check for proper tire inflation pressure, and check for damaged tires or wheels.

Check mark

Wheel alignment checked if unusual wear continues after rotation

Check mark

Check the wheel lug nut torque after 160, 1 600, and 10 000 km (100, 1,000, and 6,000 mi) of driving.

Check mark

Outer tire on a dual wheel setup rotated

Check mark

Warning: If the vehicle is operated with a tire that is underinflated, the tire can overheat. An overheated tire can lose air suddenly or catch fire.

Check mark

All tires, including the spare, properly inflated

Check mark

Tires rotated according to the rotation pattern
