Engine Crankcase Breather - Replace

Open the engine access door at the rear of the machine. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Access Doors and Covers”.

The engine crankcase breather is located in the engine compartment on the right-hand side of engine. A replaceable filter element is located inside the engine crankcase breather.

Remove cover (4) and remove filter element (2).

Clean housing (1) and cover (4).

Inspect O-ring for damage. Replace if necessary.

NOTICE: The V-belt must be tensioned correctly. Failure to tension the belt properly could cause damage to the belt and/or to the air conditioner compressor.

Water Pump Belt, Fan Drive Belt, and Alternator Belt

1. Open the engine access door and remove the fan guard.

Check mark

Note: To gain better access, remove (place aside) the coolant overflow tank.

2. Apply approximately 98 N (22 lb) of force midway between the alternator and crankshaft pulleys.

Check mark

3. Measure the deflection of the belt. The belt should deflect 10 to 12 mm (25/64 to 15/32 inch).

4. If the deflection is not correct, loosen alternator adjusting bolt (1) and mounting bolt (3). Move the alternator (2) to adjust the belt tension.

5. When the adjustment is correct, tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 25.5 ± 1.5 N·m (18.8 ± 1.1 lb ft). Tighten bolt (3) to a torque of 52.5 ± 3 N·m (38.7 ± 2.2 lb ft).
