WARNING! Hot oil and components could cause injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact your skin.
Operate the lift truck a few minutes to warm the oil.
Park the lift truck on a level surface with the forks lowered, parking brake applied, transmission in NEUTRAL, engine stopped and the wheels blocked.
Remove the floor plate.

200 Hourly / 1 Monthly Alternator Drive Belt Maintenance
CAUTION! After stopping the engine, check and adjust the rotating part. After adjusting the belt, tighten the bracket bolt securely. If the belt is too tight, unnecessary stresses are placed on the alternator bearing and belt. Such stresses will shorten the service life of both. Keep the belt free of oil and grease to reduce the risk of slipping.
NOTICE: If it is difficult to adjust or replace the belts, consult your Cat lift truck dealer.
Is the lift truck parked on a level surface, with the forks lowered, the parking brake applied, the transmission in NEUTRAL, engine stopped and the wheels blocked?
Is the hood raised?
Push the belt downward with about 98 N (10 kgf) [22 lbf] pressure midway between the pulleys as shown.
NOTICE: If the deflection is out of the correct range, readjust the belt. Also, check the belt to make sure that it is not worn, frayed, or has separated piles.
Are the alternator bracket bolts loosened and the alternator moved out or in?
Is the hood closed and secured?
