Fuel System Primary Filter (Water Separator) Element - Replace

Open the engine access door. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Access Doors and Covers”.

Open the drain on the fuel filter/water separator (2). Allow the water and fuel to drain into a suitable container.

Support the fuel filter/water separator and rotate the locking ring (1) counterclockwise. Remove the fuel filter/water separator.

Clean the mounting base for the fuel filter/water separator.

Install the new fuel filter/water separator. Rotate the locking ring clockwise in order to fasten the fuel filter/water separator to the mounting base.

Prime the fuel system in order to fill the fuel filter/water separator with fuel. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, “Fuel System Priming Pump - Operate”.

Enter the date of installation or manufacture of the seat belt

Is the seat belt within three years of the date of installation or within five years of the date of manufacture?

If the seat belt is within the specified time frame, proceed with the replacement. If not, no action is required.

Upload a photo of the date label attached to the seat belt, the seat belt buckle, and the seat belt retractor.

Was the seat belt successfully replaced?

Consult your Caterpillar dealer for the replacement of the seat belt and the mounting hardware.

Is your machine equipped with a seat belt extension?

If your machine is equipped with a seat belt extension, also perform this replacement procedure for the seat belt extension.

Sign off on the maintenance procedure

Refer to the Service Manual for the complete adjustment procedure for the engine valve lash.

A qualified mechanic should adjust the engine valve lash and the fuel injector timing because special tools and training are required.

Always recycle a battery. Never discard a battery.

Always return used batteries to one of the following locations:

• An authorized battery collection facility

Battery or Battery Cable - Inspect/Replace

1. Turn the engine start switch to the OFF position. Turn all switches to the OFF position.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the starter.
