1 Monthly Motor Winding Insulation Resistance Testing
Section 3 – Checking Insulation Resistance
Check the insulation resistance of the stator winding with an insulation resistance meter
Record the insulation resistance reading
Investigate and take corrective action if there is a significant change in insulation resistance
Calculate the minimum insulation resistance (RM) using the formula RM = KV + 1
Compare insulation resistance readings to the calculated RM
Dry out the windings if insulation resistance is less than calculated RM
Bake in an oven at a temperature not to exceed 90°C until insulation resistance remains constant
With the rotor locked, apply low voltage and gradually increase current through winding until winding temperature reaches 90°C
Air Filter Cleaning

Check air filters for high velocity air speeds up to 600 FPM (3 m/s) net face velocity
Measure resistance to air flow of a clean filter
Is the resistance to air flow of a clean filter within 0.15" W.G. (37 N/m² gauge)?
Check if static air pressure drop across filters reaches 0.50" W.G. (123.3 N/m² gauge)
Is the static air pressure drop across filters at or above 0.50" W.G. (123.3 N/m² gauge)?
Check if Differential Air Pressure Switch activates at 0.5" W.G. differential
Are air filters in place and clean?
Clean or replace air filters if pressure drop reaches threshold
6 Monthly Anti-Friction Bearing Lubrication
Section 3 – Anti-Friction Bearing (Grease Lubricated)
Check motor RPM
Verify standard conditions
Check relubrication intervals and volumes on motor nameplate
Refer to motor nameplate for recommended lubricant
Select alternate lubricant if necessary
Ensure grease is clean and fresh
Verify grease compatibility before mixing

Anti-Friction Bearing Maintenance
Section 3 – Anti-Friction Bearing Removal/Replacement
Ensure equipment connected to the motor shaft cannot cause shaft rotation
Disconnect all electrical power from the motor windings and accessory devices
Replace bearing when worn, oversize, or when TRG/bearing temperature monitoring indicates excessive wear
Remove the end shield
Remove the bearing using a conventional bearing puller
Protect the shaft center using a spacer block of bass or soft material
Clean and inspect all parts, removing all old grease
Ensure all shaft bearing shoulders and journals are free of nicks
3 Monthly Anti-Friction Bearing Lubrication

Verify applicable motor conditions
Describe the operating conditions
Ensure lubrication procedure follows the 6 Monthly task guidelines
Check relubrication intervals and volumes on the main motor nameplate

Stay clear of rotating parts and electrical circuits if lubrication is done with motor running
