Were any leaks found?
Repair any leaks found immediately
7.4.2 Leak Testing
Charge the system
Perform leak test with R134a compatible leak detector
Are all joints tight?
1 Daily Chiller Operation Check
7.1.2 Daily
Check graphic control centre (OptiView) displays.
Is the compressor in operation?
Enter the bearing oil pressure from the SYSTEM Screen.
Enter the oil level in the oil reservoir.
Is the operating oil level between the upper and lower sight glasses?
Drain or add oil if necessary.
Enter the entering condenser water pressure and temperature.
Enter the leaving condenser water pressure and temperature.
Chiller Tube Leak Testing
Tube Leak Detection
Check for potential leak scenarios
Is refrigerant detected at the liquid head vents after shutdown?
Has system capacity and efficiency dropped sharply?
Immediate Actions for Detected Leaks
Valve off evaporator and condenser from the water circuit
Drain evaporator and condenser immediately
Drain and purge refrigerant system with dry nitrogen
Tube Leak Testing Procedure
1 Yearly Compressor Maintenance
7.1.6 Annually (more often if necessary)
Drain and replace the oil in the compressor oil sump
7.3 Oil Charge
Verify the nominal oil charge for the compressor is 75.7 litres of York "K" oil
Ensure only York "K" refrigeration oil is used in the centrifugal compressor
Check that the oil is kept tightly capped until used to prevent moisture absorption
7.3.1 Oil Charging Procedure
Shut down the unit
Prepare the oil charging pump and connect to the oil charging valve
Chiller Vacuum Testing
7.4.3 Vacuum Testing
Connect a high capacity vacuum pump to the system charging valve and start the pump
Open all system valves
Ensure all valves to the atmosphere are closed
Operate the vacuum pump until a wet bulb temperature of 0°C or a pressure of 5 mm Hg is reached
Circulate warm water through the evaporator and condenser tubes
Ensure water temperature does not exceed 50°C
Close the system charging valve and the stop valve between the vacuum indicator and the vacuum pump
Disconnect the vacuum pump leaving the vacuum indicator in place
