Diaphragms Inspection and Replacement
Diaphragm Removal and Inspection
Lift diaphragm by one edge and turn pump shaft until diaphragm pulls up.
Insert Allen wrench through one of the machined cross holes to hold diaphragm up.
Remove components from the center of the diaphragm
Inspect diaphragm for damage or wear
Inspect plunger for rough surfaces or edges
Diaphragm Installation
Install new or reinstall old diaphragm
Clean screw (19) and apply medium-strength threadlocker.

Oil Level and Condition Check
Measure the oil level in the upper oil reservoir
Is the oil level correct?
Is the oil condition acceptable?
Oil Replacement
Is the oil contaminated or discolored?
Remove contaminated oil from the pump housing
Replace with clean oil
Diaphragm Check
Hydraulic End Service
Disassemble Pump Housing and Cylinder Housing
Remove pump head and diaphragms as outlined in Fluid-End Service Section.
Remove cap and drain oil from pump housing.
Set hydraulic end of pump face-down on cylinder housing.
Check cam assembly shaft for sharp burrs and smooth any burrs.
Remove four socket head screws and washers that secure cylinder housing to pump housing.
Lift off pump housing.
Inspect cam assembly and bearings. Contact Wanner Engineering if bearings are pitted or binding.

Prime Hydraulic Cells on Standard Pumps
Remove oil cap and fill reservoir with correct Hydra-oil
Use catch basin for oil leaks and dispose of properly
Force air out of oil in hydraulic cell by turning shaft and pumping piston
Wipe excess oil from cylinder housing and diaphragms
Ensure oil is 1 inch (25 mm) from top of fill port
Replace oil cap
Prime Hydraulic Cells on Kel-Cell Pumps - Method #1 (with system head pressure less than 2 psi)
Install valve plate without outlet valves and tighten screws
Hydraulic End Maintenance
Flush Contaminant from Hydraulic End
Remove oil drain cap (34) and allow all oil and contaminants to drain out. Replace oil drain cap.
Remove oil cap (28) and fill reservoir with kerosene or solvent, manually turn pump shaft to circulate kerosene, and drain.
Repeat the kerosene or solvent flush.
Fill reservoir with fresh oil, manually turn pump shaft to circulate oil, and drain once again.
Refill reservoir. If oil appears milky, repeat flushing procedure until oil appears clean.
Replace oil cap (28).
