Battery Maintenance

Warning: Stop the engine before working on the battery and terminals.

Terminal Maintenance

Presence of white powder on the terminal

If white powder is present, pour warm water over it to disable and then grease the terminal.

Terminal extremely corroded

Check mark

If terminal is extremely corroded, remove it from the battery, brush off the corrosion using a wire brush or sandpaper, then connect it tightly to the battery and grease the terminal.

Note: Remove the negative terminal (-) first, but replace the same, second.

Be careful not permitting any foreign matter to come into the battery by means of putting the lids tightly in place.

1 Weekly Battery Electrolyte Check

Warning: Be sure to use distilled water for battery electrolyte. Also, wear protective glasses when working on the battery.

Note: Perform battery maintenance after removing the radiator duct. The radiator duct can be removed by loosening the two bolts on its upper face.

The battery electrolyte is between the upper and lower levels (10 to 15 mm from the top of the plates).

If the electrolyte level is below the lower level, did you remove the cap and add distilled water to the upper level through the water inlet port?
