Inspection of Appliance and Venting System

Check all joints and pipe connections for tightness, corrosion or deterioration

Check the electronic-ignition system for quick ignition and a proper flame signal

Check all safety controls including thermostats for proper operation

Check safety shut-off valves for operation and tightness

Have the entire system, including the burner, heat exchanger, and venting system, inspected by a qualified service agency

Schedule annual service call by qualified service agency

Check for piping leaks around pumps, relief valves, and tank connections

Is the area free from combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors or liquids?

Venting and Drainage Inspection

Visually inspect venting system for proper function, deterioration or leakage

Inspect condensate drain and ensure condensate is directed to an appropriate condensate system or drain

Check temperature and pressure relief valve according to manufacturer’s instructions

Remove any obstruction to the flow of combustion or ventilation air to the unit

Ensure area is free from combustible materials

Check gauges, monitors, and indicators

Condensate Drain System Maintenance

Refill the condensate neutralizer with limestone

Note any changes in the refill interval for the condensate neutralizer

Visually inspect venting system for proper function, deterioration or leakage

Low-Water Cutoff and Alarm Check

Is the low-water cutoff operating correctly?

Is the alarm functioning properly?

Document any wiring changes and verify proper operation after servicing

Is the appliance installed in a dust or dirt contaminated atmosphere?

Inspect for soot on the heat exchanger or in the flue

Inspect and clean the heat exchanger if necessary

Inspect and clean the burner and/or heat exchanger

Inspect the integral circulation pump for gasket leaks or failure
