Section 3 – Periodic Inspection
Listen for any abnormal noises and check cause immediately
Check for any vibration and check cause immediately if excessive vibration is found

De-energize the motor by opening the manual disconnect switches
Remove drain plug and drain oil
Is the oil contaminated?
Flush out the housing by filling with fresh oil and drain again if oil is contaminated
Replace plug and fill through filler cap until oil level is at proper level indicated on sight gauge
6 Monthly Anti-Friction Bearing Lubrication
Section 3 – Anti-Friction Bearing (Grease Lubricated)
Check motor RPM
Verify standard conditions
Check relubrication intervals and volumes on motor nameplate
Refer to motor nameplate for recommended lubricant
Select alternate lubricant if necessary
Ensure grease is clean and fresh
Verify grease compatibility before mixing
Relubrication with shaft stationary and warm motor

Maintain proper lubricant level
Check oil level at midpoint of sight gauge when motor is at rest and in operation

Section 1 – Storage (less than 6 months) – Horizontal Motors with Sleeve Bearings
Fill the bearing oil reservoir to the indicated level with the proper lubrication oil
Pour 4 to 6 ounces of oil onto the bearing liner before rotating the shaft
Rotate the shaft 10-15 revolutions to redistribute the lubricant
Ensure the following conditions are met

Check for any signs of rust or corrosion on the bearings and associated structural parts
