Ensure mechanical equipment is inoperable during maintenance

Lock out electrical system disconnect switch

Use appropriate ladder for upper surface maintenance

Check float valve for proper operation

Check water level for proper setting

Basin and Suction Screen Maintenance

Check for continuous water discharge during operation

Enter the current concentration level of dissolved solids

Select the concentration range for treatment schedule

Ensure water treatment chemicals are not added via the cold water basin

Inspect for bacterial growth and general operation conditions.

Is there any bacterial growth present?

Report bacterial growth to water treatment expert if present.

Component Inspection and Cleaning

Inspect and remove debris or scale from the following components

Replace any damaged or worn out components.

Flush louvers, drift eliminators, and accessible fill surfaces with moderate-pressure water nozzle.

Bearing Housing Oil Level Check

Check the oil level in the oil cup at shutdown.

Is the oil level in the oil cup adequate?

Fill to the proper level with SAE 30 (ISO 100) weight oil if necessary.

Operate the system until the oil is warm.

Refill with SAE 30 (ISO 100) weight oil.

Wear proper personal protective equipment

Clean the cooling tower thoroughly

Was the cooling tower cleaned and disinfected properly?
