Ensure mechanical equipment is inoperable during maintenance

Lock out electrical system disconnect switch

Use appropriate ladder for upper surface maintenance

Check float valve for proper operation

Check water level for proper setting

Basin and Suction Screen Maintenance

Lubricate the motor according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Remove oil, dust, or scale deposits from the motor.

Clean and lubricate motor at the close of each operating season.

Ensure there is no interference with the free rotation of the fan drive before starting the motor.

Run the motor for three hours to dry out windings and relubricate bearing surfaces.

Ensure bearings are adequately lubricated before returning motor to service at the start of a new operating season.

Check for continuous water discharge during operation

Enter the current concentration level of dissolved solids

Select the concentration range for treatment schedule

Ensure water treatment chemicals are not added via the cold water basin

Bearing Housing Oil Level Check

Check the oil level in the oil cup at shutdown.

Is the oil level in the oil cup adequate?

Fill to the proper level with SAE 30 (ISO 100) weight oil if necessary.

Oil Change at Start of New Operating Season

Operate the system until the oil is warm.

Refill with SAE 30 (ISO 100) weight oil.

Bearing Housing Refill Procedure

Wear proper personal protective equipment

Inspect for concentrations of dirt, scale, and algae

Was a significant concentration of contaminants found?

Perform periodic flushing and cleaning
