Check shaft size and operation hours

Is the fan operating under extreme conditions (dirty/wet/rough)?

Is the operating temperature above 120°F?

Clean the grease nipple and vicinity thoroughly without high pressure equipment

Lubricate the bearing while the fan is in operation

Pump grease slowly until a slight bead forms around the bearing seals

Is the bearing visible during lubrication?

Check shaft size and operating conditions

Clean grease nipple and vicinity thoroughly without high pressure equipment

Is the fan in operation during lubrication?

Pump grease slowly until a slight bead forms around the bearing seals

Avoid excessive pressure to prevent seal damage

Use no more than three injections with a hand-operated grease gun if the bearing cannot be seen

Verify lubrication instructions

Is the bearing grease a petroleum lubricant in a lithium base conforming to an NLGI #2 consistency?

Establish a schedule for inspecting all parts of the fan

Determine the frequency of inspection based on operating conditions and location

Inspect fans exhausting corrosive or contaminated air within the first month of operation

Check that all necessary tools are available

For Arrangement 1, 2, 8, 9 and 10

Mark the position on the shaft of both bearing races, setscrews, and the wheel and pulley

Mark the location and orientation of the inlet cone

Note the clearance between the wheel and inlet cone

Remove the fan pulley and inlet cone

Remove the wheel from the shaft

Remove bearing hold-down bolts and remove shaft and bearings as one unit

Verify lubrication instructions on motor nameplate

Use polyurea mineral oil NGLI #2 grease for lubrication

Use compatible grease for lubrication

Is the motor installed with a vertical shaft?
