Verify belt and pulley installation prerequisites

Loosen motor plate adjustment nuts on L-bolts

Move motor plate to allow belts to slip into pulley grooves

Adjust motor plate for proper belt tension (1/4” deflection per foot of center distance)

Lock motor plate adjustment nuts in place

Ensure pulleys are properly aligned

Cover openings to prevent dirt and moisture accumulation

Rotate the wheel periodically to maintain grease coating on internal bearing parts

Operate dampers periodically to maintain grease coating on internal bearing parts

Inspect the unit periodically to prevent damaging conditions

Inspect bolts and setscrews for tightness

Inspect belt wear and alignment

Inspect bearings as recommended in the Conditions chart

Ensure fan bearings are prelubricated

Check for any specialized lubrication instructions on fan labels

Verify bearing grease is a petroleum lubricant in a lithium base conforming to an NLGI #2 consistency

Is the lubricant compatible with the installation?

Adjust lubrication interval based on installation conditions

Lubricate the bearing while the fan is in operation

Pump grease in slowly until a slight bead forms around the bearing seals

Motor Bearings with Sleeve Bearings

Verify lubrication instructions on motor nameplate

Has the unit been stored for a year or more?

Is the unit operating under severe conditions?

Add LIGHT grade mineral oil or SAE 10W oil (up to 30 drops)

Motor Bearings without Sleeve Bearings

Are the bearings grease lubricated ball or roller bearings?

Is the motor operating under severe conditions, high temperatures, or excessive contaminants?

Disassemble and lubricate the bearings if necessary
