Observe guidelines issued by the trade association’s centre for accident prevention regarding round steel chains in hoisting operation.

Follow guidelines for general inspection and test specifications in accordance with DIN 685, section 5:1981.

Adhere to accident prevention regulations in DGUV V54 (BGV D8) and DGUV V52 (BGV D6).

Ensure compliance with EN 818-7:2002 or equivalent regulations in the respective country.

Change the chain guide and the hold-down when replacing the load chain.

Lubricate the load chain with penetrating gear lubricant oil before starting operation for the first time.

Lubricate the load chain with penetrating gear lubricant oil during operation with no load.

Clean the links of the load chain before subsequent lubrication.

Select the type of dry-film lubricant to use when ambient influences are conducive to wear

Describe the frequency of use and operating conditions affecting lubrication needs.

Ensure the vehicle is on a stable and flat surface

Gather all necessary tools and replacement parts

Loosen the screws of the cap for gear cover

Loosen the three fastening screws of brake unit

Inspect hooks for deformation and cracks

Is the chain sprocket in the hook block worn by about 1 mm?

Measuring Wear and Replacing Load Hook

Measure length between chisel punch marks (dimension Y)

Is the length between chisel punch marks within permissible values?

Check condition of load hook components

Ensure continuous monitoring of the load chain according to DIN 685 section 5 and DGUV V54 (BGV D8), § 27.

Has the load chain been tested before starting operation?

Check the load chain for the following issues

Is the nominal thickness at the points of contact reduced by 10%?

Is the chain or a link elongated by 5%?

Is an eleven-links piece of chain elongated by 2%?
