Park machine safely on level surface.

Put drain pan under drain valve.

Remove drain cap and drain oil into drain pan. Allow oil to drain completely.

Wipe dirt from around oil filter.

Place a drain pan or funnel under oil filter tray.

38 and 42 Mowers: Lubricate two mower spindle grease fittings with two pumps of grease

48 and 54 Mowers: Lubricate three mower spindle grease fittings with two pumps of grease

Lubricate grease fitting on each spindle with one or two pumps of general all-purpose grease

Turn wheels to distribute grease on spindles

Lubricate front axle center pivot grease fitting with one or two pumps of general all-purpose grease

Lubricate mower spindles, pivot points, and lift pedal

Park machine safely on level surface

Put drain pan under drain valve

Remove drain cap and drain oil into drain pan

Wipe dirt from around oil filter

Place a drain pan or funnel under oil filter tray

Thumb screws turned 1/4 turn counterclockwise and cover removed

Air filter clamp loosened and filter element lifted out of the air cleaner base

Foam precleaner removed from the paper filter element

Foam precleaner washed, rinsed, and dried

Foam precleaner replaced if damaged or missing

Paper filter element inspected and replaced if damaged or dirty

Air cleaner base cleaned carefully

Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in the SAFETY section.)

Mower deck raised to highest position to access blades

Measure distance (A) between blade tip and flat ground surface

Measure distance between other blade tip and flat ground surface

Install new blade if the difference between the two measurements is more than 3 mm (1/8 in.)
