Check mark

MAINTENANCE — Lubrication / START UP

Check mark

Measure the temperature of the ball bearings using a pyrometer

Check mark

Is the temperature of the ball bearings below 225°F?

Check mark

Note any observations about the bearings running tight and hot during initial startup

Check mark

Record the number of service hours since startup

Run this procedureArrow right

1200 Hourly Ball Bearing Lubrication

Check mark

MAINTENANCE — Lubrication

Check mark

Ensure pump is shut down before lubrication

Check mark

Verify grease type

Check mark

Is the pump running at 1750 rpm?

Check mark

Remove relief from back of ball bearing housing

Check mark

Fill with grease until fresh grease flows from opening

Check mark

Is an automatic lubrication system being used?

Check mark

Place reliefs in the tapped hole (1/8" N.P.T.) if automatic lubrication system is used

Check mark

Ensure bearings do not run over 225°F

Run this procedureArrow right

Impeller Clearance Inspection

Check mark

Installation — Impeller Adjustment

Check mark

Ensure all necessary parts are in place

Check mark

Verify clearance between impeller and housing or intake flange

Check mark

Disconnect coupling (#32) and remove sleeve (#32a)

Check mark

Loosen three locking screws (#57)

Check mark

Loosen three adjusting screws (#55)

Check mark

Lightly tap shaft (#1) until impeller bottoms on the intake flange

Bearing Maintenance

Check mark

Bearing Installation

Check mark

Clean the work area thoroughly

Check mark

Apply mounting force against the ring being press-fitted

Check mark

Avoid forcing the bearing onto a shaft by pressure or hammer blows

Check mark

Use an arbor press with a face block contacting only the bearing inner ring

Check mark

Ensure the shaft is pressed through the bearing until seated firmly against the shaft shoulder

Check mark

Support the shaft beneath the arbor press table if not too long

Check mark

Use clean, square-ended soft metal tubing for pressing

Check mark

Align the shaft with the arbor press ram to avoid cocking

Initial 300 Hours Coupling Alignment Check

Check mark

INSTALLATION — Coupling Alignment (Chair Mounted Model ONLY)

Check mark

Verify coupling alignment before and after system start-up

Check mark

Check Parallel Alignment by placing a straight-edge across the two coupling flanges and measuring the maximum offset at various points around the periphery of the coupling. Realign if offset exceeds .010”.

Check mark

Check Angular Alignment with a micrometer or caliper. Measure from the outside of one flange to the outside of the other at intervals around the periphery of the coupling. Ensure the difference between maximum and minimum does not exceed .010”.

Check mark

Ensure all screws are tightened before operating the pump.

Check mark

Record any additional notes or observations regarding the alignment check.

Check mark

Adjustment Procedures if Coupling Alignment is Out

Check mark

Adjust Lateral Parallel Misalignment by loosening the four motor retaining bolts and adjusting lateral screws until alignment is achieved. If misalignment exceeds .020”, proceed to step e.

Check mark

Adjust Horizontal Parallel Misalignment by loosening the four motor retaining bolts and adding or subtracting shims as needed. If more than 0.1875” total shims are required, proceed to step v.
