Initial 300 Hours Coupling Alignment Check
INSTALLATION — Coupling Alignment (Chair Mounted Model ONLY)
Verify coupling alignment before and after system start-up
Check Parallel Alignment by placing a straight-edge across the two coupling flanges and measuring the maximum offset at various points around the periphery of the coupling. Realign if offset exceeds .010”.
Check Angular Alignment with a micrometer or caliper. Measure from the outside of one flange to the outside of the other at intervals around the periphery of the coupling. Ensure the difference between maximum and minimum does not exceed .010”.
Ensure all screws are tightened before operating the pump.
Record any issues encountered during the alignment check.
Adjustment Procedures if Coupling Alignment is Out
Adjust Lateral Parallel Misalignment by loosening the four motor retaining bolts and adjusting lateral screws until alignment is achieved. If misalignment exceeds .020”, proceed to step e.
Adjust Horizontal Parallel Misalignment by loosening the four motor retaining bolts and adding or subtracting shims as needed. If more than 0.1875” of shims are required, proceed to step v.
Impeller Clearance Inspection
Installation — Impeller Adjustment
Ensure all parts are in place before starting
Verify clearance between impeller and housing or intake flange
Disconnect coupling (#32) and remove sleeve (#32a)
Loosen three locking screws (#57)
Loosen three adjusting screws (#55)
Lightly tap shaft (#1) until impeller bottoms on the intake flange
Tighten three adjusting screws by hand until they touch ball bearing housing
Tighten three adjusting screws just up to the point where the shaft turns freely; then tighten each screw an additional ¼ turn
Bearing Maintenance
Bearing Installation
Clean the work area thoroughly
Apply mounting force against the ring being press-fitted
Avoid forcing bearing onto shaft by pressure or hammer blows
Use arbor press with face block contacting only the bearing inner ring
Ensure shaft is pressed through bearing until seated firmly against shaft shoulder
Support shaft beneath arbor press table if not too long
Use clean, soft metal tubing with correct diameter for pressing
Ensure tubing end is square and contacts only the bearing inner ring
Pump Startup Check
START UP — After Start Up
Measure and record the discharge pressure
Measure and record the flow rate
Measure and record the motor amp draw
Describe the location of the pressure gauge in relation to the liquid level
START UP — Final Checks
Verify if the mounting plate height is at least 1" above the highest possible liquid level and securely mounted
Is the liquid level at least 2" above the point at which the shaft exits the top of the pump end?
Test if the shaft rotates in a clockwise direction when viewed from the top by momentarily energizing the motor
1200 Hourly Coupling Alignment Check
MAINTENANCE — Coupling Alignment
Verify coupling alignment schedule
Check Parallel Alignment
Check Angular Alignment
Ensure motor screws are snug to allow slight force for movement during alignment.
Recheck both parallel and angular alignment after any adjustment.
Adjustment Procedures
Adjust Lateral Parallel Misalignment
Adjust Horizontal Parallel Misalignment
