Spur Gear Reducer Oil Level Check
SPUR AND WORM REDUCERS - Lubrication
Check the oil level in spur gear reducers stored or not operated for a period of time
Ensure gear motors have proper lubrication
Verify oil level is sufficient to prevent performance loss, damage, or failure
Use a 300 ssu at 100°F/38°C turbine quality lubricant
For horizontal operation, remove both plugs and add oil to top hole until other hole overflows
For vertical operation, fill to overflow point of upper most hole
Air Motor Flushing
MAINTENANCE - Flushing
Disconnect air supply and vent all air lines
Wear eye protection
Ensure flushing is done in a well-ventilated area

Use only Gast #AH255B Flushing Solvent
Disconnect air line and muffler
Select the type of solvent used
If using liquid solvent, pour several tablespoons directly into the intake port
Air Motor Automatic Lubrication Check
MAINTENANCE - Automatic Lubrication
Check if the unit is fitted with an automatic inline oiler
Adjust inline oiler to feed 1 drop of oil per minute
Ensure not to overfeed oil to prevent exhaust air contamination
3 Monthly Sound Absorber Cleaning
MAINTENANCE - Cleaning the sound absorber
Disconnect air supply and vent all air lines
Wear eye protection
Flush the product in a well ventilated area
Remove the sound absorber
Clean the felt filter
For lubricated operation, add 3-4 drops of oil
Check the air compressor
Listen for changes in the sound of the motor
Air Motor Surface Temperature Inspection
Operation
Operate the motor for approximately 2 hours at the maximum desired load
Measure the surface temperature of the motor on the casting opposite the pipe ports
Is the surface temperature within the normal range (not exceeding 275 degrees F/135 degrees C)?
Do not continue to operate the motor if the measured surface temperature exceeds the temperature listed on the motor
Consult with your Gast Distributor/Representative if the measured temperature exceeds the listed value
