Cylinder Inspection
Cylinder Disassembly
Clamp the extreme base end of the cylinder in a soft-jawed vise.
Remove the retainer using a claw type spanner wrench.
Remove the rod assembly from the cylinder.
Clamp the rod assembly on the wrench flats. Avoid clamping directly on the rod sealing surface.
Remove the nut fastening the piston to the rod using a wrench on the rod end nut flats to prevent rotation.
Place the piston or retainer in a soft-jawed vise to remove the seals. Pry the seals up with a blunt screwdriver and cut to remove.

Inspect for nicks and burrs

Inspect the cylinder anchor joint for lubrication and correct hold
Lubricate the cylinder anchor joint with wheel bearing grease

Apply a light application of chassis grease to the arm bearing if permitted

Inspect the arm bearings for wear
Are any bearings worn to less than .040 in. (1 mm) thickness?
Replace all bearings if any are worn to less than .040 in. (1 mm) thickness
Frame Mounting Plate Capscrews Tightening
Tighten the frame mounting plate capscrews to the specified torque value
Restrictor Cartridge Adjustment

Pre-Adjustment Checks
Ensure pressure does not exceed 2300 psi (160 bar)
Verify hydraulic flow falls within the volume range shown in Section 6.1
Adjustment Process
Identify restrictor cartridge installation location
Remove the bumper if restrictor cartridges are installed in the cylinder rod end ports
Loosen the jam nuts on the restrictor cartridges
Screw in the plungers with a screwdriver until they bottom, then back out three full turns

Lower Mounting Hook Engagement Check
Check the lower mounting hook engagement clearance with the truck carriage bar
Is adjustment necessary?
Tighten the lower hook capscrews
Upper Hook Capscrews Tightening
Tighten the upper hook capscrews to 210 ft.-lbs. (285 Nm)
Clamp Force Check
Check clamp force using Cascade Clamp Force Indicators 35G-DFI-8RF and 35G-CFI-8RF
