Warning: Shut off power supply to hoist before starting the inspection

Remove electrical compartment cover from hoist

Insulation sound and terminals securely crimped to wires

Terminal screws tight and plug-type terminals completely mated

Control circuit transformer shows no evidence of overheating

Wires are securely attached to limit switch and mounting screws are tight

Contactor solenoid coils show no evidence of overheating

Control cable wire strain reliever in good condition and securely attached to gear case cover

Sign off on the electrical controls inspection

Warning: Hoist must be removed from overhead suspension before starting the inspection.

Check braking surfaces for wear and scoring.

Check spring studs and guide pins to make sure they are not bent or loose.

Check coil shock mounts for deterioration and damage.

Enter the current air gap measurement.

Turn adjusting screw (10) clockwise until .100” gap is reached.

Hoist must be removed from overhead suspension.

Inspect Load Brake and Overload Clutch.

Friction discs discarded and replaced with new discs?

Load brake friction surfaces on flange, ratchet assembly and gear clutch cone checked?

Condition of pawl and ratchet assembly checked?

Contact faces of load brake cam and gear clutch cone checked?

Brake gear and pinion teeth inspected for wear or broken teeth?

Clean parts thoroughly with an oil solvent before reassembly.

Overload clutch assembly should not be disassembled as it is preset at the factory.

Warning: The brake is factory set for nominal rated torque. No further adjustment to increase torque may be made.

Enter the current torque spring height

Is the torque spring height within the acceptable range?

Note: Torque reduction may not exceed one full turn in the counterclockwise direction (1.5 lb-ft brake cannot be reduced).

Is the torque reduction within the acceptable limit?

Note: The spring measurement for the 6 lb-ft spring is from inside the shoulder washer.

Sign off on the torque adjustment

SIX-MONTH INSPECTION OR 500-750 HOURS OF OPERATION.

Same as thirty-day inspection plus the following.

4-2. CHANGE GEAR CASE OIL (Fig. 4-1).

a. Remove drain plug from bottom of hoist frame and drain oil from gear case. Replace plug.

b. Remove oil level plug from side of hoist.

c. Refill gearcase through oil filler to proper level (bottom of oil level plug hole) using Automatic Transmission Fluid - DEXRON Type.; This is an all-weather oil available from all major oil companies. 1-1/2 pints of oil are required.
