Instructions for Repairing Mechanical Seal

Follow steps 1 through 4 of section titled 'REMOVAL OF PUMP FROM EXISTING SYSTEM FOR REPLACEMENT'

Loosen and remove the four capscrews holding the motor housing to the pump body

Remove the housing from the pump body

Place the pump on a flat work surface

Insert a screwdriver into one of the endplate ventilation slots to engage a rotor cooling fin

Turn the impeller clockwise to remove it from the shaft

Remove the seal assembly from the shaft by sliding it off the shaft sleeve

Clean the seal seat and inspect for grooving or cracks

Clean, drain, and refill closed heating and cooling systems with clean water.

Is the system pH level between 7 and 9?

Ensure the system is filled and vented before starting the pump.

Vent air from the system using an air vent or alternate method.

Is the system completely vented prior to pump operation?

Check for leaks at all joints with gaskets while pressurizing the body slowly.

Check for any leakage or evidence of leakage

Repair or replace the unit if leakage is present
