Check for potential problems with the pump

Is there any leakage or evidence of leakage?

Inspect the pump for unusual noise

Inspect the pump for overheating

Describe any issues found during inspection

Was the pump repaired or replaced if leakage was found?

Clean, drain, and refill closed heating and cooling systems with clean water.

Is the system pH maintained between 7 and 9?

Ensure the system is filled and vented.

Vent air from the system using an air vent or alternate method.

Is the system completely vented?

Check for leaks at all joints with gaskets while pressurizing the body slowly.

Instructions for Repairing Mechanical Seal

Follow steps 1 through 4 of section titled 'REMOVAL OF PUMP FROM EXISTING SYSTEM FOR REPLACEMENT.'

Loosen and remove the four capscrews holding the motor housing to the pump body.

Remove the housing from the pump body.

Place the pump on a flat work surface.

Insert a screwdriver into one of the endplate ventilation slots to engage a rotor cooling fin.

Turn the impeller clockwise to remove it from the shaft.

Remove the seal assembly from the shaft by sliding it off the shaft sleeve.

Inspect the seal seat for grooving or cracks.
