Freeze Protection Maintenance
Operation
Ensure pump is inactive before draining
Drain the pump through the drain plugs
Has suitable antifreeze been added to the water?
Describe any damage or injuries caused by the drained liquid
Motor Maintenance
Motor Replacement
Remove the motor following steps 1 through 4 in the MECHANICAL SEAL REPLACEMENT section
For motor frames 213TC and larger, remove components
Install the motor adapter flange onto the new motor
Torque the 4 hex cap screws to the specified values in the ENGINEERING DATA section
Complete the reassembly following steps 17 through 22 in the MECHANICAL SEAL REPLACEMENT section
Note any additional unit service or maintenance required
Contact local dealer or Goulds Water Technology distributor for assistance if needed
Pump Startup Check
Start-Up — Wiring and Grounding
Install, ground, and wire according to local and National Electrical Code requirements.
Install an all leg disconnect switch near pump.
Disconnect and lockout electrical power before installing or servicing pump.
Verify electrical supply matches pump's nameplate specifications.
Ensure wire size limits maximum voltage drop to 10% of motor nameplate voltage.
Verify ground wire is at least as large as wires to the motor.
Ensure wires are color coded for ease of maintenance.
Check three phase motors for all leg protection with properly sized magnetic starters and thermal overloads.
6 Monthly Motor Bearing Lubrication

Check motor operating hours
Verify moisture presence
Determine if lubricants are operated at elevated temperatures
Ensure not to intermix grease bases
Purge old grease completely if changing grease base
Avoid over greasing to prevent excessive bearing temperatures
